e
need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of
animals ... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their
tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein
we err and err greatly. For the animal shall not be measured by man.
In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and
complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never
attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not
brethren; they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught
with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the
splendor and travail of the earth.

our
mission
People
have been living with animals as companions for thousands of years.
The Ancient Egyptians, for example, were sharing their homes with
cats and dogs 5,000 years ago. They even worshipped them as gods and
had them preserved and buried in special animal cemeteries when they
died!
The mission of the eXtreme Pet, is to support the protection and
understanding of all animals, be it in the security and comfort of a
happy home, or in the natural habitat, while caring for the
discarded and un-wanted individuals as they make their way back to
homes of loving and caring guardians, be it nature or man.
This Web site is devoted to animals and the people who love
animals. It's sole purpose is to illuminate the issues, educate
those who are interested, and advocate for our animal friends who
have no voice of their own.
While we've done a lot of research
preparing this site, there's always more to do. If you know of a resource we have
missed, or would like to contribute to the resources here, please let us know by using the form on the
right.
And from time to time, some of the Web sites we have
provided links to . . . may be no longer up and running. If you
find a link that is bad, please let us know.
This site is a labor of love and deep
conviction. All of your suggestions and feedback is always
welcome and greatly appreciated.

companion
animals
From
the female dog who's bred repeatedly in a puppy mill to the racing
greyhound who's killed because he wasn't fast enough, many companion
animals never experience the security and comfort of a happy home.
We want our readers to learn about the many industries and activities that harm pets—and
what can be done to help.
Every month we'll choose a few articles
and/or Web sites that we think bear highlighting. Check back every
month (around the 15th) for new information.
